Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Turner who also possesses solid fabrication and welding skills? We are currently seeking a trade-qualified Fitter / Welder to join a dedicated facilities maintenance team based in Ipswich.

Operating across a major public facility asset, this position offers an immediate start on a secure, long-term contract running up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

The Work

Working as part of the core building services team, you will deliver comprehensive mechanical maintenance, preventative servicing, and general hardware repairs across facility assets.

  • Mechanical Plant Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on pumps, motors, ventilation systems, valves, and mechanical infrastructure.

  • Welding & Asset Repairs: Execute light fabrication, TIG/MIG welding, and structural repairs on operational facility equipment, including hospital beds, trolleys, frames, and custom mountings.

  • Precision Fitting & Overhauls: Align, service, and overhaul mechanical linkages, drive systems, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.

  • Safety & Hazard Management: Complete daily task risk assessments (JSA/TAK) while maintaining strict adherence to site safety guidelines.

What You Need

We are tracking for a safety-conscious, trade-qualified Fitter with strong general mechanical maintenance skills and comfortable hands-on welding experience.

  • Trade Qualification: Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or Fitter/Welder).

  • Safety Tickets: Current Construction Industry White Card.

  • Pre-Employment Compliance: Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and standard vaccination personnel compliance.

  • Rights: Full Australian Working Rights.
